The Hub Course Instructors

Barbara Reuer, PhD, LPMT, MT–BC, has worked in the music therapy field for more than 40 years. She is the founder of MusicWorx Inc., an agency which provides music therapy and consulting services.

MusicWorx is both an American Music Therapy Association (AMTA)-compliant provider of music therapy services and an AMTA-approved clinical training site for degreed music therapists working toward national board certification. The MusicWorx team comprises close to 20 board-certified therapists and music therapy interns.

Barbara served as President of the National Association for Music Therapy and continues to be involved with AMTA. Between 1997 and the end of 2016, the site will have trained and graduated almost 160 music therapy interns. Barbara also has advanced training in several applicable areas of the music therapy field. In 2008, Dr. Reuer received the Lifetime Achievement Award from AMTA.
In the event of selecting another course instructor, MusicWorx Inc. hereby agrees to confirm the candidate(s) are aptly qualified according to the following criteria:

  • Must be a Board-Certified music therapist and/or have requisite credentials and experience/skills pertaining to the specialization outlined in each course.
  • Course must relate to the CBMT Scope of Practice and CBMT Board Certification Domains effective 2019.
  • Sign a written agreement with Musicworx Inc., agreeing to abide by the regulations of the CBMT Code of Professional Practice.

The Hub Course Completion Procedure

After purchasing the CMTE course, complete the assignments as outlined in the Music Therapy & Wellness Hub Course module. You may complete the lessons at your own pace. You will not receive the CMTE credit until all course components are completed. 

Application for CMTE Credit – You will complete the following assignments from your CMTE course:

  • Written assignments
  • Learning outcomes
  • Assessment of participant satisfaction
  • Needs Assessment

CMTE Credit Certificate

You will receive a PDF of a certificate awarding your CMTE credits upon completion of the course. CMTE credits are awarded during the same month as the course completion date. If you need a hard copy, please notify us. Please note that not all courses on The Hub are eligible for CMTE credit. Eligibility for CMTE credit will be listed on the course description page.

CMTE Credit Award Date

Credits will be awarded in the month the course is completed. For example, if you complete your course on January 10, you can list the CMTE credits for that course on your CMTE reporting form as being awarded on January 10. Assignments must be submitted by December 31 for the credits to be awarded in December of that year. Holidays that fall on the last day of the month do not delay the awarding of credits. Credits will be awarded in the month the course is completed. No exceptions.

Prerequisites Or Limitations Of Course Participation

Music Therapy & Wellness Hub Continuing Education Courses have no prerequisites or limitations of participation. Courses will be accessible to participants with disabilities and may be completed in the environment of the participants’ choice. Course Policies & Procedures

The attainment of the participants’ Music Therapy & Wellness Hub Continuing Education Course learning objectives will be documented in the written assignments and evaluation forms submitted to MusicWorx Inc., when applying for CMTE credit. Assignments are graded on a pass or fail basis. Participants are allotted one opportunity to correct unsatisfactory work.

Participants in any Music Therapy & Wellness Hub Courses have the right to file a grievance.

Participants must provide written documentation of the complaint, outline the problem as perceived, and state the preferred solution. Mail the grievance letter to MusicWorx Inc., 11300 Sorrento Valley Rd., Ste. 106, San Diego, CA 92121–1329. Once the grievance letter is received, Dr. Reuer will review the information and then respond in writing within 14 days of receipt of the grievance letter. If you disagree with the resolution of the grievance, you have the right to appeal the decision. State the reasons for your appeal in a letter and mail it to MusicWorx Inc., and the appeal will be reviewed and responded to in writing within 14 days of receipt. If the grievance still is not resolved satisfactorily, you have the right to ask the CBMT Continuing Education Committee to address the unresolved grievance.

If you find a Music Therapy & Wellness Hub Course to be unsatisfactory after completing 50% of the course, you may contact MusicWorx Inc. at info@musictherapyandwellnesshub.com within 14 days of purchase to request a refund.

All information received from the study course participants will be treated as confidential information. MusicWorx Inc. will protect the legal, professional, and personal rights of all participants. Records, assignments and written materials will be secured according to the CBMT guidelines.
