AudAbility is program for individuals with Parkinson’s disease and their Care Partners. Every research-based music therapy intervention is designed to target symptoms of Parkinson’s such as speech, motor control, cognitive functioning, fatigue, and anxiety. This protocol was developed by a Board-Certified Music Therapist and aims to improve quality of life through music.
This AudAbility Home Practice was created for current and former participants of AudAbility Voice. These vocal exercises and physical warm-ups will help you improve or maintain your breathing, speaking and communication, and motor skills to counteract the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. The course contains physical and vocal warm-up exercise videos led by Whitney Hewlett, MT-BC.
Prerequisites:
- Must be currently enrolled in or have completed AudAbility Voice class at the MusicWorx Wellness Center.
Course Objectives:
- Establish and maintain a regular practice of vocal health.
- Improve singing techniques.
- Engage in music with loved ones.
