Session Description
The COVID-19 crisis forced and abrupt halt to visitor access of medical settings. However, with a little creativity and tech-savvy, community connections can continue. This presentation will demonstrate how technology is being used to promote community engagement with a therapeutic benefit that reaches beyond COVID-19.
Presenter Bios
Bridget Sova, a graduate of Ohio University, works at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI where she launched the music therapy program five years ago. Her current projects include hosting interns, ‘going virtual’ through the hospital’s internal broadcasting studio, and conducting research in music therapy interventions for pain management.
Katie Rushlow, a graduate of Western Michigan University, works as a music therapist at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. Katie has a broad range of experience working with adults and pediatrics. Her current projects include working with community visitors and ‘going virtual’ through the hospital’s internal broadcasting studio.
